DGR COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities and Procedures

  1. DGR Communications Notices, postings, etc. must be ADA compliant.
  2. Committee Chair
    1. The Committee Chair will attend Monthly E-board meetings, Monthly Membership Meetings, and other emergency meetings as may be necessary.
    2. The Committee Chair will conduct Communications Committee meetings as deemed needed and assist the various committee members with their areas of responsibility.
    3. Work with DGR Committee Chairs as needed for information and accuracy of what information they request to have disseminated via the DGR President.
    4. Maintain a DGR Communications E-Mail Account.
  3. DGR Website Lead
    1. Maintain, review and update the DGR Website.
    2. Post information re: DGR meetings, events, speakers, and other DGR activities.
  4. DGR Mail Chimp Lead
    1. Compose and send out the Monthly Meeting Notice at least 7 days prior to the Monthly Membership Meetings, which must include the DGR Agenda (per the DGR Bylaws).
    2. Will also compose and send out any electronic notifications approved by the DGR President.
    3. Will receive from the DGR Membership Chair individuals to add to the DGR Mail Chimp list of subscribers.
  5. Social Media Lead
    1. Facebook
      1. DGR has a DGR Facebook Page.
      2. Postings by other than DGR Facebook Administrators must be approved by one of the administrators.
      3. Post items of political interest, DGR events and information about DGR endorsed candidates. For each meeting, may set up a Facebook event and send Facebook invitations to attend.
  6. DGR Newsletter Lead/Editor
    1. Will be sent out via Mail Chimp; therefore, the DGR Newsletter Lead will work closely with the DGR Mail Chimp Lead.
  7. Graphic Arts Resource Individual
    1. At the request of DGR President will produce graphic art materials.

Specific Information to this Committee

  1. The functioning of this committee is essential to growth and wellbeing of DGR.
  2. This committee has very involved work and must have committee members who may have primary lead over specific areas.
  3. This Committee Chair will function a bit differently than other DGR Committee Chairs in that the chair will serve as a team coordinator to the committee members. The various committee members will take the lead on various DGR Communication functions. The Committee Chair might take lead over one of the items listed below but the responsibility is way too much for one volunteer. Some committee members may take lead over more than one area.

    3. Social Media
      1. Facebook Page (typically for those 35 & older)
      2. Instagram (typically for those under 35 and is used mostly to post pictures, videos, and posting event information after they occur)
      3. Twitter (less than 3% of folks now post on Twitter but we should utilize this app.)
      4. Threads
      5. Pinterest
      6. Tumbler
      7. DGR Newsletter
    4. Graphic Arts Resource Individual
    5. Any others

Helpful Knowledge and Skills

  1. Basic knowledge of Word, internet searches, spreadsheets
  2. Ability to utilize email
  3. Ability to utilize Mail Chimp and other applications listed below
  4. Knowledge of Copyright issues.

Best Practices

  1. Check email at least daily.
  2. Read and respond as needed to the DGR Officers Group Texting.
  3. Respond in a timely manner to telephone calls and emails related to DGR.
  4. Be familiar with DGR Bylaws.
