Responsibilities and Procedures

  1. Enroll new and renewing members.
    1. Utilize the DGR Electronic Membership Application to process membership applications.
    2. Process electronic and paper Membership Applications and ensure they are completed correctly and signed.
    3. Verify dues payment—cash, personal check, or ActBlue (will receive email that payment has occurred). Attach a copy of the payment method to the completed Membership Application form that is maintained in the DGR Membership Chair's current year notebook(s).
    4. Verify that the new/renewing member is a registered voter in Riverside County as a Democrat utilizing MOE/PDI. Make sure the registration address matches the address on the Membership Application form. Note the date this was verified on the Membership Application form with the Membership Chair's initials.
      1. If not registered as a Democrat in Riverside County, consult with member applicant to determine if:
        1. They want to become an Associate DGR Member.
        2. If "yes" to above, work with him/her to obtain verification of registration as a Democrat elsewhere.
    5. Provide to the DGR Treasurer:
      1. If Membership was paid via check, provide a copy of the DGR "paper" completed DGR Membership Application Form and the check.
      2. If Membership was paid via cash, provide a copy of the receipt given to the prospective member (in lieu of a check), a copy of the completed DGR Membership Application Form, and the cash payment.
    6. Maintain the completed membership forms in the DGR Membership Chair's current year binder(s). If a “membership year” overlaps (member joined in October - December of year 1), his/her membership will be valid for the next year and the paperwork will need to be filed in both years' notebook(s).
    7. Enter/update membership information in the Membership Database.
    8. Send the new/renewing member his/her Membership Packet.
  2. Membership Recruitment Activities
    1. Contact all dues paying members when their dues are no longer current and provide all necessary documents/methods for them to renew.
    2. Engage in an extensive DGR Membership Recruitment Drive each year.
  3. Protect the privacy of members’ personal information, ensuring that it is only used for club purposes.
  4. Encourage membership participation in club meetings.
  5. Work with other board members to recruit new members.
  6. Attend DGR E-board Meetings, DGR Monthly Membership Meetings, and any other emergency/special meetings as may be called.
  7. Conduct DGR Membership Committee meetings.

Helpful Knowledge and Skills

  1. Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, internet searches, spreadsheets
  2. Patience with detailed record-keeping
  3. Willingness and ability to utilize MOE/PDI

  1. Check email at least daily.
  2. Read and respond as needed to the DGR Officers Group Texting.
  3. Respond in a timely manner to telephone calls and emails related to DGR.
  4. Be familiar with the DGR Bylaws.
