DGR Hosts Katie Porter; Prop 50 Campaign Gets Underway

On 9/13, we packed the room for a grassroots meet-up with special guest Katie Porter. We also kicked off our Prop 50 organizing push. We welcomed many new friends and were energized by Katie’s remarks. Riverside County Democratic Chair Joy Silver rallied the room, and Michelle Singleton, the California Democratic Party’s Prop 50 organizer for Riverside County, outlined the path to a successful Yes-on-50 campaign. Grassroots Power in Action: This is How You Flip a Seat Blue!

This weekend, our volunteers proved what grassroots energy can do. Our Day of Action for Chris Shoults was a powerful step toward flipping Assembly District 63 and making sure Riverside has the leadership it deserves. DGR Statement on Board of Supervisors’ Failure to Advance Sheriff Oversight

This afternoon, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors considered and heard public comments on Supervisor Jose Medina’s motion to form an Ad Hoc Committee to explore Sheriff Oversight, but they failed to move it forward. The motion didn’t even receive a second. Over 78 people spoke on the agenda item with the overwhelming majority in favor, and still… the rest of Board chose to do nothing. We’re frustrated. We’re disappointed. But we’re not giving up.
